Ours was good, except I came down with a cold...hack, cough, ugh.
I'm feeling better today though, so I got out my bird and garden books.
I had always known Audubon's birds, but learned about Athos Menaboni some years ago, when I moved back home to Georgia.
He was born in Italy (1895), but moved to Georgia in the 1920s, where he married a Georgia girl, and lived near Atlanta, until his death in 1990.
So, I used his book for my January "nature lover's coffee table", in the living room.
I like bird watching, especially in the winter months, and The Audubon Backyard Birdwatcher is one of my favorites.
It not only has a bird identification and behavior guide, but also ideas for feeders and garden plantings.
Here are a couple of my garden inspiration books, and some Fritillaria meleagris bulbs.
I bought the bulbs back in the fall, and ran across them on the pantry shelf last week.
So, I got them out, to remind me to plant them. I hope I haven't waited too late. I've never seen these growing, and I'm so excited to see exactly how they look.
Have you ever planted these? I'd love to know where you planted them, and if they looked as pretty as the photo.
I'll wait 'til my cold has gone before I do any planting, but in the mean time, I'm sitting on the couch, watching the birds.

Hi Babs, Sorry to hear you are under the weather. What a great post to start the new year and especially January. I love your title for this post, it’s reminding me to plant a few bulbs too! This is such a pretty vignette on the coffee table, one you will use too. The perfect time to enjoy these books while your are “taking care” from the cold. I’m not familiar with these bulbs. It will be fun to see what comes up!
Take care Babs.
A very Happy New Year.

Happy New Year Babs...glad your feeling better! Love the vignette you created!
How exciting to have a new project! Happy new year!
Babs, I hope you are feeling much better now! Love your winter bird coffee table. I too love to watch the birds and hope I see many here in my new home this winter. I probably need to get a feeder! Thanks for linking up to TTF!
Hi Babs- I am sorry you have been under the weather. I hope you are much better. I wish your posts would update! I 'm not even getting the email updates for your blog. Anyway I like your bird books and the idea of that on the table. We have birds and watch them, but right now it's rather white out there.
Babs, sorry you've been under the weather. Lots of friends here were hit with a bug shortly after Christmas. Put them to bed for a couple of days. Hope you feel better soon. Your bird and garden books are making me want to make some spring plans. My garden looks pretty sad with all this cold weather. More to come tomorrow, so it will be even sadder later in the week.
Take care and get better.
Your post reminded me to get the amaryllis bulb out that I have stored in the crawl space. It's that time, as all my Christmas ones have stopped blooming. I hope you are feeling better!
I love those bulbs. I don't have any. Glad your feeling better.

I sincerely love your "nature lovers' coffee table" arrangement. It is very cool. Bird watching is an amazingly peaceful state of mind. There is nothing I like better than getting up early and sitting on the couch, coffee in hand, and watching the array of birds that frequent our feeders. Glad to know you share my enthusiasm.
XO Dana
