Shopping, Gathering and Shifting

Hey Y'all!
How's your August going?  My creativity has been lacking lately. I seem to want to concentrate on other things like shopping.
I'm still in Summer mode and looking for end-of-season bargains.
Here are a few things I found~

~two shell dishes~

~ a cotton peasant skirt~70% off !

~ a swimming top and bottom.

We're hoping to have a yard sale sometime in September, so I've been cleaning out closets and making piles of things all over the house.

I'm finally getting rid of some clothes that I've had for years.

A couple of things got shifted around in the family and living room.
We had a couple of cooler days and I started thinking about Fall. Yikes!
I try not to think about Fall until September, because here in Georgia, we still have a lot of hot days to come.

Living room coffee table ~ dried hydrangeas~

~ I think this thing is the top of a container...no bottom.
I got it at GW...or a yard sale, a year or so ago.
There's just something about it's shape that appeals to me.

I added a little turquoise paint to highlight it.

Family room~ a less summery look, too, with neutral color faux hydrangeas and a square green mini tray ~

~and some green sedum and candle on the other end table.

Well, that's all I've done this week.

Take care and have a great weekend.

Babs, as usual, you have everything looking so pretty! I'm so ready to transition to Fall; but, I always wait until September 1st. I love the container top that you used as an accent piece. It looks great!

I like all of the changes you've made. I am planning to clean out our basement soon too. I'm feeling overwhelmed by all the junk I don't need anymore!

You are doing dandy with this transitional time! I love the blues...the outfits are so cute. I like the thingie on top of the books...this takes imagination!

Good luck with your sale. I'm too lazy. I drop everything off at the bin in our church parking lot.

Happy Weekend!

Hi Babs, You scored some great deals this week; I ADORE that peasant skirt!! I enjoy seeing the little vignettes around your home because I can relate to your style. I love your decorating choices and your pretty pieces placed just perfectly. :)

I hope you have a lovely weekend!

Hugs,

You did well!
I like your transitional touches around the house - not yet fall (thank heavens!) but not so summery, either.

Babs - you always find the greatest things!! Loving the sea shell dishes!! I can see crab dip in them!!
I need to go through my closet too and clear out half of what I have that's over 20 yrs. old. The problem is - I'm still wearing it :-//

Yes, I think that is a lid, and it's cool! Good eye to swoop in on that! I like lids. I wish I could just decorate with them all over the place. They are kind of like finials, but generally not as expensive. I like the turquoise paint treatment you gave it. It gives it a cool patina!

BEAUTIFUL peasant skirt!!!!!!!! And where on earth did you find the swimming bottom like that??!?!?! That's just the thing I need! I am ashamed of my thighs (well, my whole body, actually!) and need to cover up. I haven't worn a bathing suit in over 20 years!!!

I like how you used the sedum in the vase. I have never done that, but I love the look. I'll be pinning!!!

Liking your changes, Babs, and your shopping finds look fun. A new swim suit hasn't hit my wardrobe in many, many years. ;-)
Happy Weekend!

I have never thought of putting sedum in a vase!! Great idea. :) We have lots of sedum in our front flower bed so I can do that easily.

Your peasant skirt is so pretty. I can picture it with a denim jacket in the fall.

You got some great buys, and I love how everything looks!
I am starting to get that nesting feeling, anticipating the change in seasons.

I have to agree with you - what ever that thing is - it has an interesting shape! So who cares what it is - it looks cool! Kudos to you for seeing that in what others may have seen as a cast away.

You know, if I lived closer, I would love to come to your garage sale. I have a feeling that your cast offs are better than what I have. Loved your tablescapes, especially the books with the made over thrift find. Cuisine Kathleen is having her challenge next week. Those shell dishes would be perfect!
