This morning, I headed out in the back yard to look for some twigs or small branches, and I noticed the Lullaby Baby daylilies had stopped blooming, and their stalks looked really interesting.
The stalks were nice and dry, and it only took a little tug to get them to release from the clump.
I put a little play sand and a few shells in the vases, to anchor the stalks.
Here's a big vase in the family room. I'm wishing now, that I had had the stalks for the coastal tablescape in my last post.
Click here if you missed it.
This morning, the temperature was in the 60s...it seemed like Fall. But now it's 91, so I guess not.
We're hoping to have a yard sale Friday. This is the first Friday in a long time, that rain hasn't been predicted. I'm keeping my fingers crossed, because we really need to have a good clearing out.

Love the form of the stalks...looks great in the vase Babs!...Have a great week!
Looks very attractive in the vases. I love to bring the outdoors in. Deb
Looks good, great idea!
I'm such a fan of stuff like that. There is just something more beautiful to me when things are real and organic than if they are silk. I love how you did the sand in the bottom. I really want to copycat that. So simple and pretty!
What a great idea and these stalks will go straight into fall. Our temps have been crazy too but I have to admit I have been enjoying the cool down! Hope all is well...Ann
Babs,
Love the natural elements that the stalks give your gorgeous decor!
We, too, have been experiencing lovely weather here on the Prairie!!!Even our lawn is still lush and green. . .very unusual for this time of year. . .but I'm loving every green blade of grass, flowering plant, bush and leaves on the trees after two long years of drought!!!
I agree, these would have made a striking design element on your costal tablescape, but I adore them in their current location!!!
Fondly,
Pat
Such a creative eye to see a dead branch and turn it into something that looks so fabulous ~ I feel your pain in wanting a good clearing out ~ I'm doing the same and it feels GREAT!! Hope the weather cooperates for you :) Judi
This post is a wonderful example of why I love blogging! I get to see so many clever ideas. I would have never thought of this and it looks fabulous - so creative!!!!
How creative! The stalks look so artistic in the vases. Simple elements equal classic design.
Hugs,
Patti
Those look great! I love the mix of the sticks, sand and shells in glass. It has a wonderful summer look to it. I never thought of using the stalks from flowers like that. Great idea!
Now, why oh why, didn't I think of that. The rest of use are pulling those stalk and discarding them. You are a clever lady.
