This Week in Our Yard, and More Critters

Here's what's been going on in my yard.

Friday, we came home from running errands...

...and were surprised to see a box turtle by the pot of mums, on the front walk.

Lots of petals were on the bricks, which weren't there when we left home.
Hmmm...do box turtles eat mums?

Our yard is a seasonal mix. Nandina berries have started turning red...

...and the Forsythia, purple and chartreuse.

Sasanqua camellia, Maiden's Blush was busy with bees.

Knock Out roses with morning dew~

Chubby rose hips with the Knock Out blooms~

A peek through the trees at our neighbor's shed~

Spider webs on the cypress shrub~

And two huge things lurking in the trees behind the house~

Buzzards...looking for Halloween treats.  Whooooo...spooky!

What's happening in your yard?

Lots of tidying up is happening in our garden this weekend with new annuals refreshing the pots.
It's glorious here this weekend. Perfect weather for being in the garden.
Cute shot of the turtle. The buzzards do offer a spooky touch. '-)

Your pictures are wonderful! We saw a bunch of buzzards today. We had a discussion about the sound they make so my husband Googled it. :) Apparently they don't make much sound.

Don't you love to find a turtle? I have several pictures of my boys over the years holding turtles they found.

Your flowers are still so pretty. That little box turtle is so cute and almost looks ornamental.

oh those buzzards give me the creeps. We live on the edge of town close to a lot of woods and they have a nesting area that's about half a mile away and they just "circle" all day, really creepy! love your little turtle, though!

Hi Babs,

Your garden is dewy and delightful with a pretty array of fall's seasonal lovelies. I love the Nandina berries and of course, the roses and you're lucky to have those lurking trees behind you!

Yay for turtles! So cute....but the buzzard? Yikes! We have tons of squirrels and chipmunks and rabbits. We also have cardinals (two couples) and a Cooper's hawk.

Love turtles, I stop when I see them in the road! We have moles in our yard and they've made a mess!
Thanks so much for sharing at AMAZE ME MONDAY!

Well, my yard is certainly not as exciting as yours. Love the little turtle. We have a bunny who has eaten all the lily leaves and everything else as high as he can reach.
Stay tuned...my recipe for rabbit stew may be coming soon. NOT! I don't think I could eat a rabbit, but Bob has my permission to take it out with his pellet gun.
Your plants and especially the nandina is soooo pretty.
